All 18K yellow gold
Stone: Grey-blue star sapphire cabochon with six-rayed asterism
Dimensions
The charm measures 1.5 inches tall (from the tip of the bail to the bottom of the stone).  The eagle is a bit over 1/2' at its widest.

This pendant began as a vintage eagle cufflink. It had already spent decades holding its place on a sleeve, with a strong profile, deep feather texture, and a beak that looked like it should be carrying something more interesting than a buttonhole.

I rebuilt it into a pendant in 18K gold using a separately sourced bail and twisted rope jump ring. The star sapphire in set in base of the eagle's head is in pristine condition. As the stone moves through the light, a six-rayed star appears across its surface and disappears again just as quickly.

The original cufflink texture is still there. I kept the ridges, the shadows, and the evidence of age rather than sanding the piece down to something anonymous. The point was never to erase its first life. It was to give that history a new use.

Origin

The eagle began as a genuine vintage cufflink sourced from an estate. The 18K gold bail and twisted rope jump ring were sourced separately.

Transformation

Karen Yost converted the cufflink into a pendant by hand in NYC, joining the components in 18K gold.

Now it is a  one-of-a-kind eagle pendant with a moving six-rayed star, built from three separate histories and made permanent as one object.
