One ear. One creature. One decision. There is something deliberate about wearing a single earring. It is not half of a pair or an accident waiting to be corrected. It is a choice made on one side of the face, where it catches the light and moves like a secret you have no intention of hiding.
Cast in 18K gold, the bat is fully sculptural, with wings spread in mid-flight, membrane lines worked into the surface, and tiny feet curled beneath its body. Darkened recesses bring the structure of the wings forward, while the raised gold catches the light as the charm moves.
It is small, but it does not disappear. The silhouette is immediately recognizable, and the detail rewards anyone who gets close enough to look properly.
The hoop already had a life before it reached the Anomaly Relic bench. Now it carries something stranger.
The Symbol
The bat has spent centuries being misunderstood, which may be part of its appeal.
It moves through darkness without confusion, navigating what others cannot see and turning the night into its own territory. Across different traditions, bats have carried associations with protection, fortune, longevity, and the ability to survive where softer creatures would lose their way.
I chose the bat for that intelligence. For the way it reads the dark rather than fearing it.
How It Feels to Wear
Wear it alone and let the asymmetry do the work, or place it beside other hoops, studs, and relics to build your own arrangement. First hole, second hole, cartilage—the point is not to follow a prescribed set.
The Rarity
This earring is sold as a single and released in limited House Relic drops. Production is constrained by my bench time, and the vintage hoops available for each release will vary.
The bat form may return, but this exact pairing of charm and found hoop is limited by what can be made and what can be sourced.
Relic Care
Store the earring in a soft-lined pouch or box so the bat’s wings and feet do not catch against other pieces.
Clean gently with a soft cloth and mild soap when needed. Keep away from hair products and perfume.
