Someone else’s promise. A newly carved baby doll face. Your brand new ring. This ring is for the collector who would rather inherit a mystery than a diamond.
This ring was built decades ago to hold a diamond at its center and a promise with its gift. None of this remains except the sentiment and the mounting.
I didn't want the exquisite beauty of this heirloom engagement ring to be discarded. Putting a new stone in the center was too predictable. So I brought it home and gave it a face.
The base is a vintage Art Deco-era ring whose original center stone was already gone when it came to Anomaly Relic. Rather than erase that absence or try to recreate what had once been there, I used the surviving structure as the beginning of something new.
I sculpted the baby doll face by hand in wax, building its rounded forehead, full cheeks, small mouth, and strange, watchful expression one feature at a time. The face was then cast in 14K yellow gold and permanently fitted into the original center setting. Against the white gold setting, the yellow gold face reads immediately. You notice the ring first, then the architecture, then the tiny person living where the diamond should have been. That delayed recognition is part of the ring's charm.
The adorable and/or menacing face sits where a gemstone was expected to be. What was once a conventional engagement ring has become something far less obedient: part antique jewel, part miniature sculpture, part object you cannot quite stop looking at.
This is not a newly made ring borrowing the language of the past. It is an older object carrying its own construction, wear, and previous life into a permanent new form. That is the point of the House Relic: history is not preserved under glass. It gets used.
The scale of this ring makes it easy to live with, while the face gives it enough strangeness to make people look twice. From across a table, it reads as an unusual vintage ring. Up close, the little gold face reveals itself, and suddenly the whole thing becomes much more interesting.
Wear it every day. Let it sit beside old signets, wedding bands, mourning rings, or nothing at all. It does not need a stack to explain itself.
Relic Care
Store the ring separately in a soft-lined box or pouch so the raised gold face and vintage setting are protected from harder pieces.
Clean it gently with a soft cloth and mild soap when needed. Remove it before heavy lifting, swimming, household chemicals, or anything likely to strike the raised center face.
